Carer A140S: the synthesis of compactness and power

The new creation of Carer technical department is a further confirmation of the avant-garde technological research of the Ravenna-based company: the extremely compact truck, ideal for indoor and outdoor handling up to 14 tons of capacity, with dimensions identical to the 8-ton machines. A valid eco-friendly alternative to traditional thermal forklifts for material handling in confined spaces.

With the launch of the A140S, Carer expands the brand new range of AS series trucks with a 14 tons machine, which also includes the A160S and A160@900S. As all the other models in this range, it is an electric truck ideal for indoor and outdoor handling of high capacities, suitable for those environments where very compact dimensions are required to ensure extreme maneuverability and handling even in confined spaces. The main sectors for which it has been designed are steel mills, carpentry, printing works and joinery.
Result of the great commercial success of the A series in various sectors of material handling, the A140S reproduces various technical characteristics and remarkable compactness, to the point that it is difficult to distinguish them. The details, however, make the difference: starting with the capacity, which, as we have said, reaches 14 tons.
As with the other models in the AS range, the A140S is equipped with an integrated Terminal West sideshift and positioner. The mast was specifically designed and developed for this model and placed above the wheels to ensure maximum visibility for the operator. The welded profiles, the 8 bearings and the shorter center distance of the plate are the key to guaranteeing the right compromise between mast geometries and resistance to bending and torsion in every application. The tilt cylinders mounted on the roof structure ensure load stability, high residual capacity and less torsion and stress on the mast.

As all the other trucks in the AS series, the A140S is equipped with two powerful AC traction motors integrated into the front axle: built and tested by CARER with the most advanced technologies, they have a high drive torque, which guarantees speed, acceleration and maneuverability. Thanks to the advanced construction technology, the motors are reliable, long-lasting even under stress and do not require maintenance. The two 20 kW traction motors and the 52 kW pump motor for lifting, thanks to the helical tooth gears, guarantee performance and silence even when working up to high speeds. The motors have an IP54 degree of protection against the ingress of dust and water and can also be used in humid and dusty environments. The new front axle consists of two independent units, right and left gearmotor, housed in a single block for maximum flexibility and strength.

A fundamental aspect concerns the dedicated tires: the A140S comes standard with superelastics, which guarantee comfort and maneuverability in small spaces: its 12 km/h speed is thus accompanied by high maneuverability in maneuvers and brilliant acceleration (about 2.5 m/s).

The A140S electric truck also provides high autonomy, guaranteed by its remarkable efficiency and high battery capacity, up to 1720 Ah. The battery is divided into two side-to-side cells and allows for easy, safe and quick replacement. If we add the absence of polluting emissions and the savings on operating costs (thanks to the presence of the distributor, calibrated to keep the engines off in passive movements), it is easy to understand that the A140S is the most valid alternative to diesel trucks of equal range in indoor and outdoor handling.
Finally, the wide range of options of the AS range is also available for the A140S and allows the forklift to be customized for the most varied application requests and needs: joystick, heating, air conditioning, radio with remote control, access with electronic key, weight indicator system, front camera and many other accessories to improve operator comfort and help manage information on vehicle operation remotely.
