Port of Naples: challenge accepted. And fulfilled
Heavy loads, energy saving, hard working conditions and exposure to the elements: Carer was not frightened by these conditions and accepted the challenge of building an electric forklift truck with a 16-ton capacity now employed in the Port of Naples for handling paper bales.
Material handling in port areas presents several critical issues for a forklift: heavy working cycles, constant stress conditions for the equipment, uneven surfaces and high speeds, in addition to the exposure to the elements. For these reasons port operators usually prefer diesel forklift trucks for heavy material handling.
Carer, as a true innovator, has accepted the challenge posed by a customer: to ensure energy cost saving through an electric forklift truck and at the same time guarantee great performances in probing conditions and on heavy load applications. This forklift was built by our technical office starting from Carer R160 model, the maximum expression of strenght and power of the Carer standard range.
Equipped of a large bale clamp and able to handle up to 6 meters high bales weighing 8 tons at a load center of 900 mm, this forklift truck can endure extreme workloads and constant stress, adapting effortlessly to environmental conditions and to the uneven surface of port loading areas.
The forklift was able to respond to the cost reduction needs of our customer, without limiting the handling performance: a real challenge. One we have fulfilled.
