The excellence of German beverage relies on Carer forklift trucks
One of Germany's leading beverage and mineral water companies has chosen to gradually replace its entire fleet of forklift trucks with Carer electric machines.
The Rheinfelsquellen brand of the century-old Hövelmann company from Duisburg-Walsum, leader in beverage sector in Germany, has commissioned a powerful battery charging station, laying the foundations for gradually replacing its entire fleet of material handling machines with Carer electric forklift trucks.
A process launched since last year: at the moment 12 new A80 / 900X trucks are already in operation in the Duisburg-Walsum warehouses and, every time the leasing of its diesel-powered truck ends, the company will replace it with a new Carer electric machine.
To guarantee the energy needed for a growing number of new vehicles, a company warehouse has already been converted into a battery charging station.
A total of 460,000 euros were invested in a modern plant, which meets the laws on workplace safety and which, at the same time, has sufficient capacity to provide rechargeable batteries 24 hours a day for three consecutive shifts. Thanks to an innovative integrated desalination plant, the water from the batteries, necessary for maintenance, is also produced directly on site.
The transition to electrically powered models should be completed by 2022.
This new fleet of eco-friendly trucks, according to the data provided by the German company, will not only lighten the impact on the environment, but, thanks to the reduction of energy and maintenance costs, will ensure annual savings of a few million euros.
